In December 2011, there were 367 residential sales in Madison County alone.
In the same timeframe in Limestone, Marshall, Morgan and Jackson counties there were an additional 202 closed transactions. These counties had only 180 sales in December 2010 while Madison County had 357.
As of 10 December 2012, there have been 46 residential sales this month in Madison County and 44 closed residential transactions in Limestone, Marshall, Morgan and Jackson counties.
Since the majority of purchasers choose to close at the end or very close to the end of the month to avoid daily interest paid from the date of purchase through the end of the month, the number of sales this month may increase to compete with the 2011 numbers. With interest rates hovering around 3 percent, it's a great time to buy!
